Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Imohimi Edgal, yesterday disclosed that the X-Squad Unit of the command had arrested at least 10 policemen and two of their accomplices for corruption and unruliness.
The commissioner said nine policemen and a senior traffic warden were picked up alongside two of their accomplices popularly as known as ‘Camp Boys’ or ‘Antelopes’ by the X-Squad, which is in charge of monitoring policemen.
Edgal noted that the Squad was deployed to ensure zero tolerance to corruption and unruly practices by police officers.
He said: “In the light of this, operatives of the Squad have been out day and night to ensure that this renewed determination is achieved. To this effect, nine policemen and a senior traffic warden, alongside two of their accomplices popularly as known as ‘Camp Boys’ or ‘Antelopes’ were arrested between September 1 and 18.

“One of the Camp boys, identified as Taofik Ismaila, was arrested on Ikotun Road on September 8, along with some unscrupulous policemen, who were caught extorting money from innocent motorists.”
Edgal disclosed that the Squad also arrested another Camp boy, Stephen Nwafor, on Igando Road with some erring policemen caught collecting money from motorists.
He said: “The policemen are presently undergoing departmental orderly room trial to ensure a total purging of the bad eggs, while their civilian accomplices are being charged to court for related offences.”
