A leader of the Celestial Church of Christ (CCC), Rev. Pastor Josiah Owodunni, has appealed to Nigerians to be patient with President Muhammadu Buhari in his bid to bring the country out of the woods. Owodunni, who made the appeal while addressing the press on the 70th anniversary of CCC in Lagos, said Buhari needs Nigerians’ prayers and support to succeed, adding that what is happening in the country is not peculiar to Nigeria.
Speaking on the leadership crisis which has rocked the church, Owodunni said Section 109 of the church’s Constitution provides for One Head that shall be known and called Pastor. He pointed out that the Pastor/Founder SBJ Oshoffa did not provide that his successor would be a member of his family.
In fact, he always made it known to all in the church that he won’t bequeath the church to his own family,” Owodunni said, adding that Oshoffa appointed him (Owodunni) as his successor which, he claimed, the church hierarchy knows about.
