Disturbed by lukewarm attitude of doctors in most general hospitals and health facilities across Jigawa State to work, Governor Badaru Abubakar has tasked medical practitioners in the state to live aboard and to ensure effective service delivery.
He warned that the government would not condone laxity, truancy, redundancy and skeletal services by the health practitioners any more, saying: “We will reward deserving doctors, while for those found wanting, government will not hesitate to show them the way out of service, or are made to face severe penalty.”
Giving the warning while on unscheduled visits to Jahun General Hospital and other health centres in the state, Badaru said the government accords priority attention to the health sector through the provision of effective health service delivery.
This, the governor pointed out the state government is being carried out through its resolve to ensure all hospitals and health centres are well taking care-off. The governor, however, stated that the essence of the unscheduled visits to hospitals across the state was for the government to access whether the investment injected so far into the health sector was judiciously utilised, and to also see how the hospital management was being run.
