Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane said on Saturday that the team is motivated ahead of their La Liga match against Valencia at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium on Sunday.
Los Blancos will be struggling in defence as Sergio Ramos is out due to a ban and defenders Raphael Varane and Jesus Vallejo with injuries, only having Nacho Fernandez as a centre back.
The coach said Varane has muscular problems and they will not risk his health.
“It’s muscular, it’s his abductor (Raphael Varane’s). It happened in the first leg against Barcelona and it had happened 15 days from then. He has trained, he has got some rest but at the end, for us is better not to risk and try to solve his problem.” he said
La Liga champions will also be without striker Cristiano Ronaldo following a five-match ban for shoving official Ricardo de Burgos Bengoetxea after being sent off during Real’s 3-1 victory over Barcelona in the first leg of the Spanish Super Cup on August 13.
Asked about rumours concerning Ronaldo’s possible transfer from Madrid, Zidane said he has no doubt Cristiano will stay at Madrid.
“There has been a lot of talking but Cristiano is here and he’s not moving anywhere. This is his club, his team, his city and I think he is delighted with everything he has got in here. So no, I don’t have any kind of doubt.”
